The Anxiety Disorders Association of British Columbia (AnxietyBC™) is a non profit organization established in early spring of 1999 by a group of concerned individuals, family members, and health professionals. They work to increase awareness about anxiety disorders, promote education, and increase access to evidence-based resources and treatments.
The Caregiver Village website helps families provide help with caring for children from ages 0 through 18. The site has helpful information on depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-harm, FASD, parenting skills, ODD, trauma and attachment issues and care-giver self-care.
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Autism Canada has been the hub of knowledge and understanding about Autism Spectrum Disorder in Canada since 1976. Their mandate is to work collaboratively with our provincial and territorial organizations, associations and societies to champion ASD priorities. They curate the exchange of information between individuals with ASD, families, professionals, researchers, governments and the public. Autism Canada actively encourages the sharing of best practices and programs, and advocates passionately for Canadians living with autism.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to funding global research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bring hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. They are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals.
At Autism Society Alberta (ASA), we see a future in which children and adults with autism can look forward to lives full of opportunity. The site includes news events, regions, about autism, treatment, emerging issues, links and more about the autism spectrum.
Down's Syndrome

The mission of the Down Syndrome Research Foundation is to empower individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential throughout life by pioneering and providing educational programs and services, grounded in foundational research. Hearing Impaired
The Canadian Hearing Society is the leading provider of services, products and information that remove barriers to communication, advance hearing health, promote equity for people who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing
The CHHA provides information the helps people with hearing loss to take responsibility for their own communication success, and to identify and overcome communication barriers in all areas of their lives.
The Alberta School for the Deaf (ASD) has proudly served Deaf and Hard of Hearing students from Grades 1 through 12 in an academic, language and culture enriched learning environment. This site includes helpful links and information about the school.
Deaf and Hear Alberta are dedicated to addressing the accessibility, advocacy, education and communication needs of the Deaf, deafened, and hard of hearing populations of Alberta. With our head office in Calgary, Alberta and a second office in Edmonton, they excel at communication through the delivery of ASL services, workplace sensitivity training, advocacy and education to Deaf consumers and their families. They provide interpreting, consultation, assessments, and assistive technology. They provide training and education for hearing loss prevention and management; and aim to improve the public’s awareness and understanding.
Learning Disabilities
The Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta (LDAA) is a registered charity and non-profit organization of parents, professionals and other concerned people dedicated to maximizing the potential of people with learning disabilities. The provincial organization focuses its efforts on province wide initiatives, most specifically representing the learning disabilities community at the provincial level. The Chapters provide direct programs and supports to children, families and adults affected by learning disabilities and ADHD.

Children Inclusion Alberta (formerly Alberta Association for Community Living) is a family based, non-profit federation that advocates on behalf of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Together, they share a dream of meaningful family life and community inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities. As an advocacy organization they support families and individuals in their desire to be fully included in community life.
Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) assists Albertans with a long-term disability, chronic illness or terminal illness, in maintaining independence in their community. AADL provides funding for basic medical equipment and supplies to meet clinically assessed needs. An assessment by a health care professional determines the equipment and supplies that an Albertan can receive through the AADL program. Albertans pay 25% of the benefit cost to a maximum of $500 per individual or family per year. Low-income Albertans and those receiving income assistance are exempt from paying the cost-sharing portion.
